Join us as we venture to Jungle Gardens, this treasured Old
Florida tourist attraction opened its doors on New Year’s Eve 1939.

There are lots of interesting things to see on this 10-acre site. The story
goes that back in the 1930s, two neighbors had the desire to develop a
sub-tropical garden into a botanical garden. They imported thousands of tropical plants, trees, and flowers from all over the world, and slowly,
“Jungle Gardens” emerged.

The gardens are home to 200 native and exotic animals, including birds
of prey, parrots, and macaws. The macaws put on a great show, so don’t
miss it! You may also see beautiful flamingos and peacocks wandering around, and of course, Florida would not be complete without a reptile
area, where you can view alligators and other reptiles.

We’ll follow this up with a visit to a beloved local eatery, the Der Dutchman,
to enjoy their delicious buffet. There will be time for shopping in the gift
shop and bakery for those interested. If shopping isn’t your thing, enjoy
one of the rockers out on the front porch as your meal settles. After we
leave Der Dutchman, you are in for a treat as we head to a local Mennonite grocery store, Detwiler’s Farm Market. Even if shopping isn’t your thing, this is an interesting place! It’s a grocery store, but with a twist of unique items. There is even an ice cream shop for you to stop and get a treat before we head home. (ice cream is not allowed on the coach)

Today, we find ourselves traveling to St. Petersburg for a guided tour of
the newly renovated Holocaust Museum. The first-floor exhibits have been redesigned to provide a deeper experience of the Holocaust’s history, featuring many artifacts, art, and firsthand survivor testimony.

One of the newest artifacts obtained in 2024, is Thor, a Danish fishing boat
used in the 1943 rescue of over 7,000 Jews. You will also find some select
pieces from the Elie Wiesel Collection. Following our time here at the museum, we will travel a short distance to the Alfred-Whitted airport and enjoy lunch at “The Hangar” located on the 2nd floor of the airport.

we have invited Max to be our step-on guide. You may remember Max from
a couple years ago when he gave us a tour of Ybor City.

to visit another “Old Florida” roadside attraction, “Weeki Wachee Springs”, home of the famous Mermaid show!

Since 1947, this park has been a must-see for those enchanted by
mermaids. The day will be rather structured in the beginning to make
sure we see all 3 activities here at the park

#2 Mermaid show

#3 The Ranger Experience Show).

After show times, there will be time allowed for you to walk around and
view the park and even see the Peacocks as they roam around freely. If

This day has us heading just north of Orlando to the quaint city of
Winter Park.

The Winter Park Playhouse is a staple of the town, and their current
matinee show will be “From My Hometown”. This off-Broadway musical
is a rags-to-riches tale of three young men just off the bus from their
hit-record producing hometowns of Philly, Memphis, and Detroit, as they meet at the famous Apollo Theatre.

The musical is a tantalizing homage to the 3-man R&B groups of the 60s
and 70s and features twenty-four Rhythm and Blues classic soul songs made popular by artists such as James Brown, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson and more.

Before the show, we will be treated to a delicious family-style Italian
meal at Maggiano’s, located on International Dr. in Orlando. Our lunch

Enjoy a fun day of deep-sea fishing aboard the 2 Georges, an 85-foot-long fishing boat, departing from the sponge dock area of Tarpon Springs at 8 am and returning to the docks at 4 pm.

The boat has been chartered specifically for our group for the day, and since it is a full day of fishing, we will be going out further in the Gulf of Mexico so if you have issues with motion sickness, please remember to pack and take your medication.  All you need to bring is the desire to have a good time fishing, a little cash for purchasing snacks and beverages at the concession area aboard the boat, or you can bring your own cooler with food and beverages (all purchases aboard the boat are cash).
